Before you bring a client manuscript
How does an author send a manuscript?
Request a manuscript by email. The author verifies their email and uploads a file or shares a Novilot book. Uploads count toward the author’s project limit; reading and replying are free.
Does the author need to become a Novilot writer?
Invited authors can use a dedicated review page without Writer onboarding. Access is limited to that review, not the editor’s other manuscripts.
Can we work on the same draft at once?
Review is asynchronous: publish approved feedback, collect replies and edit decisions, then accept the next draft. Decisions do not rewrite the manuscript.
Who controls AI use and pays for checks?
The author controls AI permission for a shared manuscript. The editor sees a credit quote before running an AI check and pays from their own credits.
What is free, and what uses credits?
Creating an account, using these templates, and trying this synthetic example are free. In the editor workspace, the literal style-sheet term check is free. AI preflights show a credit quote and require enough available credits; a free account does not promise a free full-manuscript scan.
Can I keep delivering my edit in Word?
Yes. Export a report or add comments and approved simple tracked replacements to your supplied original DOCX. Review the result in Word. Complex or ambiguous edits may be skipped with a warning; this is not a Word add-in or a complete Track Changes round trip.
Does the author see all my notes?
No. Client reports and expiring review links contain the queries you approve for sharing. Private editor notes stay private. You can revoke a review link, and revised drafts require your preview and acceptance.
What brings me back after the first scan?
Collect author responses, compare the next draft with your saved revision, revisit unresolved queries, and reuse approved style-sheet templates on the next engagement. Each new client and revision has its own review context.
