Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Novilot, a writing app for novelists. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Novilot.

Your writing is yours

• You keep full ownership of and all rights to everything you write in Novilot, including anything you create with help from AI features.
• You grant us only the limited license needed to store your content and run the features you use (for example, sending a passage to our AI provider to generate a suggestion). We claim no other rights, and this license ends when you delete your content.
• We never use your writing to train AI models. See the privacy policy for details.

AI features

• AI output is generated by a machine and can be wrong, inconsistent, or unoriginal. You are responsible for reviewing and editing anything you keep.
• AI features consume credits. Credit allowances, limits, and any prices shown in the app may change; changes never apply retroactively to credits you have already received.

Your account

• You must provide a real email address and keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Novilot.
• One person per account. Do not share, resell, or automate access to the service.

Acceptable use

Do not use Novilot to:

• break the law or infringe someone else's rights, including their copyrights;
• probe, overload, or disrupt the service or its security;
• extract other users' data or attempt to access accounts that are not yours.

Billing

• Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• If a payment fails or is reversed, paid features may be suspended until it is resolved.

Leaving, and your data

• You can export your manuscript at any time (DOCX, EPUB, HTML, Markdown, or PDF).
• You can request account deletion at any time; see the privacy policy for how.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your work.

Disclaimers and liability

• Novilot is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it reliable and your work safe, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, and you should keep your own backups of work that matters to you (the export feature makes this easy).
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top. For material changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Novilot after a change means you accept the updated terms.
