Keep an identifiable baseline
Record the draft version before importing a revision. Novilot retains snapshots so the earlier wording stays available for comparison. Check chapter alignment after an author renames, reorders, splits, or merges chapters; matching is an aid, not proof that scenes correspond.
Compare the change with the reason for the query
Read the original evidence, the author’s response, and the revised passage together. A changed sentence may solve the local wording while leaving a later timeline or character-knowledge problem intact. Mark a query fixed only when the relevant evidence supports that decision.
- Separate changed wording from resolved meaning.
- Check downstream references affected by a new fact.
- Retain intentional differences with their explanation.
- Recheck unresolved queries instead of treating every response as closure.
Be explicit about automated review coverage
The AI revision check uses bounded portions of the earlier and current drafts plus a limited set of query context. Review the coverage notice and credit quote; it is not an exhaustive comparison of every word or every open issue. The chapter comparison and your editorial read remain essential.
Accept a client submission before it becomes your working draft
A client can submit a revised manuscript through an active review link. The editor previews and accepts the revision; uploading through that link does not silently overwrite the working draft. Keep the original client files outside Novilot as part of your delivery records.
