Choose checks from the editorial scope
A manuscript evaluation may need structure, pacing, character arc, point of view, and continuity. A focused continuity pass may need only canon, chronology, character knowledge, and world rules. Running analyses outside the contracted scope creates noise and can blur the value of the editor’s deliverable.
Separate signals from recommendations
A repeated dialogue tag, a long scene, or a late character entrance is a signal. Whether it is a problem depends on genre, voice, scene purpose, and the author’s goals. Use tool output to locate patterns, then write recommendations in the language of the manuscript and the edit.
Build a small repeatable pass
