Frequently asked questions

Novilot is a continuity checker and story bible tool for novelists. It reads a finished or in-progress manuscript, finds contradictions across chapters, and builds a story bible from suggestions you approve. It is for writers of long fiction who want to catch the inconsistencies readers would notice, without handing their prose to an AI to rewrite.

Where does my writing go?

Your writing is stored in your Novilot account so you can open it again. When you use an AI feature, the relevant part is sent to Anthropic's API to run that feature (for example a continuity scan or a suggestion). It is not sold, and it is not sent anywhere else for training. See our privacy policy for the full list of processors.

Do you train AI on my manuscript?

No. Your writing is never used to train any model, ours or anyone else's. Anthropic's commercial API terms also prohibit training on API customer content.

Can I delete my work?

Yes. You can delete any project from the app at any time, and that permanently removes the project and its derived AI data. To delete your entire account, contact us and we remove your writing, AI working data, usage history, and profile from our database.

Does Novilot write my book for me?

No. Continuity Guardian reads and audits your manuscript. It finds contradictions and gives feedback, but it does not write or rewrite your prose for you. Optional AI writing help (inline autocomplete and chat) is available and under your control; you can turn autocomplete off. You decide every word that stays in the book.

How long a manuscript can it handle?

Guests get a Continuity Guardian pass over the first 70,000 words. Signed-in writers can scan up to 150,000 words on the current plans. Higher paid tiers launching soon are planned without that ceiling. Every result states exactly how many words were scanned. Longer books can be imported; the scan reports what it covered.

What does it cost?

The free plan includes a monthly credit allowance that refills on a rolling 30-day cycle. A Continuity Guardian scan costs credits based on how many words it reads. Re-opening an unchanged result is free, because unchanged scans are cached. Paid plans are launching soon; leave your email in the pricing section and we will tell you when they are ready.

Is my continuity scan accurate?

It reads the manuscript contiguously and reports exactly how many words it scanned on every result. Findings quote the passages behind them so you can verify each one yourself. It is a tool to catch things humans miss, not a replacement for your judgment.
