What a continuity checker does

A continuity checker reads a whole novel and looks for facts that stop agreeing with each other. A character described with green eyes early on has brown eyes later. A journey that took three days in one chapter takes an afternoon in the next. A rule you set for how magic, or law, or a piece of technology works gets broken two hundred pages on. These are the errors that survive your own re-reads, because you remember what you meant, not what is actually on the page.

A famous example

In the Sherlock Holmes stories, Dr. Watson’s war wound is in his shoulder in A Study in Scarlet and in his leg in The Sign of Four. Arthur Conan Doyle wrote both, and the contradiction went to print. What Novilot checks

Continuity Guardian reads the book contiguously and reports exactly how many words it read on every result, so you always know what was covered. Each finding quotes the two passages that disagree and points at the lines involved, so you can judge it yourself rather than trust a verdict. It is a tool to catch what humans miss on a long draft, not a replacement for your judgment.
